TEFCE advocacy through the Bologna Follow-Up Group

May 15, 2019

Key messages of the TEFCE project on the importance of community engagement in higher education were presented by TEFCE expert Ninoslav Šćukanec Schmidt (Institute for the Development of Education, Croatia) at the meeting of the Bologna Follow-up Group (BFUG) in Bucharest on 2 April 2019, attended by over 50 representatives of education ministries, European stakeholder organisations and the European Commission.

The Bologna Follow-up Group (BFUG) oversees the Bologna Process between the ministerial meeting. The BFUG meetings play an important role in overseeing the implementation of the ministerial Communiqués as well as in developing the Bologna Process.

Mr Šćukanec Schmidt, who acts as co-chair of the BFUG's Advisory Group for Social Dimension, advocated during the meeting’s workshops and plenary the need to include community engagement in higher education among the thematic priorities for the future EHEA strategic period after 2020.
